FEDERAL BENEFIT OPEN SEASON

It is that time again to review your Federal Benefits (https://www.benefeds.com) during Open Season.

The 2023 Federal Benefits Open Season will take place Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, through Monday, Dec. 11, 2023. Open Season is the time of year when you have the opportunity to make decisions about your health, dental, vision, and tax-saving needs. The purpose of this message is to provide information on training and resources for the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program, the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP), and the Federal Flexible Spending Account (FSAFEDS) Program. A reminder about open enrollment for the NASA Employees Benefit Association (NEBA) MetLife benefits is also included.

FEDERAL BENEFITS OPEN SEASON PROGRAMS

FEHB Program
You may review the FEHB Program Open Season Notice for information on premiums, instructions on how to enroll or change your enrollment in Employee Express, premium conversion, and insurance plan comparison tools. If you take no action, your current enrollment in the FEHB Program will continue automatically for 2024. You will be subject to any changes in premiums, benefits, and service areas. If you have received correspondence from your FEHB carrier that your plan is no longer participating, you MUST choose and enroll in another plan during Open Season to be covered in 2024 under a plan of your choosing. Failure to choose a new plan, will result in your being placed into the lowest cost nationwide plan available, which may or may not be a plan that suits your and/or your families’ needs.

FEDVIP
You may review the FEDVIP Open Season Notice for information regarding premiums, enrollment instructions, and insurance plan comparison tools. FEDVIP enrollments automatically continue from year to year. FEDVIP enrollments also automatically continue when enrolled employees retire.

FSAFEDS Program
You may review the FSAFEDS Open Season Notice for information regarding FSA types, enrollment instructions, effective dates, and balance rollover amounts. Unlike health insurance, FSAFEDS enrollments DO NOT carry forward from year to year. Current participants MUST RE-ENROLL for 2024 if they wish to participate next year.

NEBA OPEN ENROLLMENT REMINDER

Open enrollment for NEBA life insurance and voluntary benefits is available through Nov. 17, 2023. You can read more about enrollment on OCHCO OneNASA and visit the MetLife NEBA website to review benefits and details, including new benefits being offered for 2024. Some of the value-added voluntary benefits include: MetLife legal plan, critical illness insurance, accident insurance, supplemental voluntary accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, auto and home, pet insurance, cancer insurance, and hospital insurance. If you are currently a NEBA member, no action is required unless you would like to change benefits or enroll in additional benefits; you are encouraged to review beneficiaries.

To access all employee notices, please visit the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) Employee Notices webpage at: https://nasa.sharepoint.com/sites/nssc/SitePages/Employee-Notices(1).aspx.
