AFEU Election Guide

4/26/2021 1:50 pm

The 2021 AFEU Election is being conducted primarily by US Mail due to the lockdown and limited
access to NASA ARC from the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the guidelines have changed from
previous elections. Please read and follow the guidance below to cast your vote.

Nominations for all elected offices were held at the membership meetings on Mar. 17, 2021 and Apr.
21, 2021 and all candidates who accepted their nomination by close of the second meeting are listed
on the ballot which is included with this guide. Each office has a line(s) for write-in candidate(s). Write-
in candidates must be members “in good standing” to be considered for office.

The official election date is May 19, 2021. Official ballots MUST be returned to AFEU by using the
provided self-addressed, stamped envelope. Mailed ballots MUST be received no later than 6pm on
May 21, 2021. Late ballots will not be counted, so please allow time for USPS delivery.

Write your name in the return address area on the provided envelope. Ballots will be separated
from their envelope and deposited in the locked ballot box and ballot secrecy will be maintained
throughout the entire process. Envelopes without the name of the sender will not be processed.

Only mark the appropriate boxes on the ballot or use the write-in candidate space. Any other
comments or personal information included on your returned ballot will invalidate your ballot. Please do
not lose your ballot or return envelope, replacements are not available.

Candidates may prepare an individual statement prior to the election, as desired. Any statements
provided to AFEU will be posted on the AFEU website ( www.afeu.org ) for review by the membership.

Per the AFEU Constitution, there will be three opportunities for on-site drop-off for your envelope
containing your ballot as indicated below:

Dates: May 13, 2021, May 18, 2021, May 19, 2021
Time: Noon until 1:00 PM
Place: Bldg. 3, Space Bar Patio-area

NOTE: Please observe all center COVID protocols if dropping off a ballot.

There will be NO additional ballots available on the drop-off days; you MUST return the ballot mailed
to you in the envelope that was provided with the ballot, by mail or by drop-off.

In case of adverse weather, the drop-off spot will relocate to the “Fireside” area within Bldg. 3.

Ballots received will be tabulated by May 24, 2021 and all valid ballots will be counted. Announcement of the election results will be sent to the bargaining unit e-mail distribution list following the completion of the count.
